The new Terminal Building is an expression of the efficient and compact routing of departing and arriving passengers over 3 levels. Sustainable/ green energy and energy efficiency strategies have been incorporated into the terminal design due to the location’s climatic conditions.

Designed as a thermal bubble, highly insulated double skin envelope wraps the entire building. Narrow strips of roof light are lifted above the main roof profile to capture low angle sun whilst openings are carefully incised into the envelope. Inspired by car design, the severe temperatures of Krasnoyarsk (-45 deg.) demand an airtight, weather proof metallic external envelope to keep out the elements.
